Waypoints Spring School brings together researchers, engineers, and industry professionals for three days of technical training and discussion on autonomous driving and connected mobility, as part of the Route 25 project, funded by the PRR/European Union-NextGeneration EU.
The programme includes sessions on cooperative decision-making in autonomous vehicles, V2X and cooperative perception, Edge Computing and MEC federation, and simulation with Autoware. The event also features a panel discussion on the convergence of technological maturity, the regulatory framework, and safety in relation to autonomous driving in Portugal, with representatives from various organisations.
6th May, 2026 | 14h - 16h
An analysis of convergence between technological readiness, the regulatory framework, and safety in relation to autonomous driving in Portugal
7th May | 9h - 12h | Cooperative Decision-Making for Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs)
Learn how Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) move beyond individual autonomy toward collective intelligence on the road.
7th May | 14h - 17h | V2X and cooperative perception in connected and autonomous mobility
Learn how manufacturers and researchers apply V2X, sensing, and perception services to build new connected vehicle services, with concept exposition and live demos of the services’ setup in the edge and an autonomous vehicle.
8th May | 9h - 12h | Autoware in Action: From Scenarios to Simulation
Hands-on with Autoware open source software development kit for self-driving vehicles, collision detection algorithms, using Scenario Simulator V2, from scenario design to full simulation.
8th May | 14h - 17 h | Edge Computing & MEC Federation for Connected and Automated Mobility
From conceptual grounding to practical takeaways, this session offers network engineers, researchers, and application developers a comprehensive look at the role of Edge Computing and MEC Federation in enabling low-latency, reliable services for Connected and Automated Mobility.
This Spring School will take place at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in Aveiro.
