On 14 October 2025, Ciência Viva in Lisbon will host the Public Event of POEMS - the Portuguese Competence Centre in Semiconductors, a national initiative coordinated by INL - International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory.
Bringing together 16 leading partners from academia, industry, and research, POEMS aims to position Portugal as a strategic contributor within the European semiconductor ecosystem. The event will convene national and European stakeholders to reflect on Portugal’s role in the European Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) and to discuss priorities for strengthening the country’s capabilities across the semiconductor value chain.
The programme will feature high-level roundtables on:
Talent development and skills retention;
Funding and investment attraction;
EU future directions and opportunities.
Flagship initiatives supported by Chips JU will also be showcased, including the APECS and NanoIC pilot lines, the EuroCDP - European Chips Design Platform, and the European Chips Skills Academy.
Designed as a platform for dialogue, the event will encourage stakeholders to exchange perspectives and ensure the continued alignment of POEMS with both national and European priorities for technological sovereignty and innovation.

As part of its commitment to advancing research and innovation, Action CA20120 - INTERACT is continuing its training initiatives in 2025 with a rich calendar of events aimed at fostering skills and collaboration in the field of wireless communications.
INTERACT’s Training Schools and Training Days are designed to support researchers at all career stages through knowledge exchange and technical development. While Training Days are half- or full-day sessions held alongside committee meetings, Training Schools span 3 to 5 days and provide more in-depth training, often in collaboration with external entities.
