Luis S. Rosado, born in November 26, 1986, has completed the MSc. degree in Electronics Engineering by the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon in 2009 with the final classification of 19 out of 20 values. His thesis work in the field of Eddy Currents Testing (ECT) was graded with 20 values and prized with the "Professor Luís Vidigal Award" for the best thesis work in the field of Electrotechnical and Computer Engineering at IST in 2009. He proceeded towards a PhD in the same institution carrying research in the field of ECT applied to Friction Stir metal Welding (FSW) having finished by December 2014 with the classification of Pass with Distinction. His work was supported by a PhD grant (Portuguese national funds, FCT) and the research institutions Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores (INESC ID and INESC MN) and Instituto de Engenharia Mecânica (IDMEC). During his PhD he was actively involved on the research projects proposals writing and execution, with more relevant contributions on the project INSPECT (Portuguese national funds, FCT), IMAGIC (European funds, FP7) and FSWELL (funding contract with AIRBUS). He was awarded with the "Best INESC-ID PhD Student 2014" based on the scientific productivity throughout his PhD. On the finish line of his PhD activities, Luis S. Rosado started collaborating as researcher at Sensima Inspection SARL assisting the Swiss company research on ECT probes and instrumentation from June 2014 to December 2015. From November 2015 to July 2017, he engaged as researcher, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and co-founder of the spin-off SEDECT SA, supporting the research and development activities of an innovative line of metal detectors for airport security screening. From August 2017, he co-founded and engaged as CTO and Chief Hardware Office (CHO) on two startups on Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring solutions. Since early stage, from 2009 to 2012, Luís S. Rosado has engaged in lecturing different courses to BSc. and MSc. students at IST. Since 2017, he is an invited assistant professor at IST being currently responsible for the courses Programmable Electronic Systems and Big Data Measurement Systems. He was distinguished with the "IST Excellent Teacher" in the 2017/18 and 2019/20 academic years.
