Bio
Luís Miguel Martins Nunes is currently Assistant Teacher at Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE) and researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações and ISTAR (Information Sciences Technologies and Architecture Research Center).
Luís Nunes completed his PhD in Computer Engineering at Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP), had previously completed his M.Sc in Electronics Engineering and Computers at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), former Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (UTL) currently Universidade de Lisboa (UL), and graduated in Computer Science from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL).
Joined Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) in 1997 as Assistant, and later Assistant Teacher after 2006. At ISCTE-IUL coordinated and lectured several courses, mainly in the areas of Programming and Machine Learning (ML). In the latter, he created in 2007 the ML course for the MSc in Computer Engineering.
He is researcher at Instituto de Telecomunicações and ISTAR, having performed the same functions at LIACC (FEUP), ADETTI (ISCTE) and INESC (IST) in the past. Has coordinated 15 M.Sc. and 2 sucessfull Ph.D. thesis, mostly in ML related topics. Has participated in several national and international projects related to ML and Learning in Multiagent Systems.
Current research interests include machine learning applications, hierarchical reinforcement learning and decision support systems.
