Vítor Viegas (M’16) was born in Portugal in 1976. He received his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST)/ Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (UTL) in 1999, followed by the MSc and PhD degrees in 2003 and 2012, respectively. He works as Assistant Professor at the Portuguese Naval Academy (main affiliation) and at the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (as invited teacher). His research interests concern measurements, signal processing and industrial informatics. In the last five years he has been involved in research projects sponsored by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), in the areas of biomedical engineering and environmental monitoring.
