The IT Ph.D. student at the University of Aveiro, Miguel Rêgo, supervised by Pedro Nicolau Faria da Fonseca and Luis Filipe Mesquita Nero Moreira Alves, from IT Aveiro, was one of the 50 awarded a Huawei "Seeds for the Future 2.0" grant, in a call that received more than 3000 applications.
The first edition of the Huawei Portugal University Scholarship Program distinguished the academic performance of 50 higher education students in the areas of engineering and technology.
Addressing university students from different areas of Engineering and Science, the Huawei Scholarship Program recognize and financially support 50 students of outstanding academic and personal merit.
Among the 50 scholarship holders, of which about half are female, there are students with different academic degrees, from bachelor's to doctoral degrees, with a special focus on the bachelor's degree (40% of students) and for young people between 18 and 23 years (72%) of the several existing courses in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) areas, those in Computer Engineering, Computer Electrotechnical Engineering and Computer Engineering reach the majority, with 28 students in total.
