Instituto de Telecomunicações is among the entities of the Regional Scientific and Technological System supported by the Centro 2020 Program and ANI to support the connection between research and industry.

The research team of Open-PACE, the funded IT project coordinated by André Mendes, will take one year to program an open platform for advanced computation in energy systems for research and industrial applications.

This project aims to develop an open access platform, with high performance, low cost, and easy programming. This platform aims to democratize access to advanced computation techniques in energy systems, even in reduced funding conditions - an important contribution to improving research and industrial competitiveness.

The potential of the proposed solution is demonstrated by the interest of two companies: Enging - Make Solutions, SA (co-promoter) and Endiprev, SA, which demonstrate a clear interest in the commercial exploitation of the proposed platform.

All the projects funded by this program aim to enhance the knowledge already produced in research projects, namely through the production of laboratory prototypes, tests, or semi-industrial pre-series that allow the first validation of these results with the aim of being transferred to the market and to be usefully exploited by companies.

This is a pilot competition developed in the context of the Center’s Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRC) participation in a European project, the IMPROVE project, approved in the Interreg Europe Program.
