The start-up DeepNeuronic, founded by Bruno Degardin, our researcher, and Vasco Lopes, both students at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), was distinguished with an Honorable Mention, in the Cities and Territories of the Future Prize, a competition promoted by APDC – Associação Portuguesa para o Desenvolvimento das Comunicações.
This competition distinguishes technology-based projects and solutions that demonstrate the ability to make cities and territories more liveable, sustainable and economically viable spaces. The start-up DeepNeuronic competed in the “Mobility and Logistics” category.
The start-up DeepNeuronic was founded in 2021 and proposes to detect situations such as road accidents, fires, abandoned objects, assaults, shootings, robberies and falls, among others, in a total of more than two dozen potentially dangerous occurrences, through the application of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision solutions the Deep Neurotic system. In 2022, this company raised funding of 1.5 million by GED Ventures Portugal, through the GED Tech Seed Fund.
Bruno Degardin, one of its founders, is currently a PhD student at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, conducting a thesis on “Human Behavior Analysis”, under the guidance of Hugo Proença, our senior researcher, and Professor at the Faculty of Engineering at UBI.
