The Center for Responsible AI (CRAI) aims to provide regulation for artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

CRAI is led by Unbabel and results of a joint venture between several partners, where is included the Instituto de Telecomunicações.

Recently created with total funding of 78 million euros by the PRR, CRAI has already obtained a first milestone. It held its first Demo Day at Sword Health, where it demonstrated advances in 16 AI products for healthcare, tourism, retail, and customer service.

In healthcare, two of the products demonstrated were “Translation for High-Risk Content” and “Sword AI Telerehabilitation”. The first, which brings together Unbabel, the pharmaceutical company BIAL, the law firm VdA, and the Instituto de Telecomunicações, will help pharmaceutical companies and companies in the medical field to provide information on new medicines and medical equipment in several languages more quickly and safely. The second, developed by Sword Health, hospital Center São João, Pestana Group, and Sonae MC, will democratize access to physiotherapy, offering the right treatment at the right time to everyone, overcoming the barrier of distance.
