Past October 20, took place at IT Aveiro, the "World Forum on IoT", a prestigious global event, headed by our researcher Rui Aguiar.

With the theme "The Blue Planet: the Marriage of Sea and Space", this event aims to contribute to the national mission of leading in new technologies, particularly in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT), where opportunities lie for maritime and security sectors.

This event was organised nationally by Instituto de Telecomunicações and the University of Aveiro, and internationally by Networld Europe and the Alliance for IoT and Edge Computing Innovation. It also has the backing of twelve societies affiliated with the IEEE IoT Technical Community.

Notable attendees on the first day of the event included the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Gouveia e Melo, and the Secretary of State for Digitalization and Administrative Modernization, Mário Campolargo.

Over five days, this gathering brought together industry leaders, academics, tech experts, and entrepreneurs to delve into the impact of IoT on the world today; and, distinguished speakers like Catherine Warner, Director of the NATO Centre for Marine Research, Brigadier General Paulo Viegas Nunes, President of SIRESP, Dan Isaacs, CTO of Digital Twin Consortia, and Jorge Pereira from the European Commission.
