Pedro Escaleira recently won two awards related to his master’s dissertation, entitled "Securing Real World 5G MEC Deployments”, conducted in the scope of NetEdge project, under the guidance of Diogo Pereira Gomes and João Silva Barraca, both from Instituto de Telecomunicações and the University of Aveiro.
The first prize was the Merit Award from the Portuguese Association for the Promotion of Information Security (AP2SI) for master’s in information security, with the associated monetary value of 1000€, which was given at the BSidesLisbon event that took place on 16 and 17 of November. The second was the IEEE Portugal Section's Outstanding MSc Thesis Award, announced on 17 November at the IEEE Engineering Day event.
NETEDGE project aims to develop an infrastructure, as well as the software associated with the provision of low-latency computing services. This solution is expected to create an ecosystem involving edge computing programming companies and IoT service providers, serving a variety of sectors, including highly automated industries.
