Bruno Silva, our researcher, from the Covilhã branch, and principal researcher of RuralTHINGS, was interviewed by RTP.
The project aims to monitor the quality of life of people living in remote and rural locations, providing local and central municipalities with mechanisms so that they can act positively on the quality of life of these people.
The research team of this project is multidisciplinary, from Computer Science, Civil Engineering, and Physics. Bruno Silva is from the area of networks and internet protocols, Pedro Inácio is linked to data protection, Nuno Pombo is linked to software engineering and the development of digital platforms, Castro Gomes from Civil Engineering, and Sandra Soares from Physics.
The project started in October 2023 and is in the needs identification phase, namely in the phase of researching the technologies to be used and detecting problems.
The project was awarded as part of the PROMOVE competition, which aims to support innovative initiatives in strategic areas for the development of interior regions, with funding from the “La Caixa” Foundation, BPI, and FCT.
