In the framework of the Agenda Route 25 for autonomous and intelligent mobility, IT has acquired an autonomous vehicle as a development kit. This self-driving vehicle is equipped with all necessary sensors, communication systems, and, most importantly, the software and platform required for autonomous operation. This acquisition represents a unique asset for the project and IT, enabling the testing and development of self-driving technologies in Portugal.

The vehicle will be employed in the Route 25 project to develop and test self-driving solutions in real-world scenarios. It will integrate network communications, edge computing, and AI to process data and make driving decisions. Testing will extend beyond the University of Aveiro Campus to include the Aveiro exposition area. Here, the vehicle will be used to test cooperative perception with road infrastructure, maneuver coordination with other vehicles, automated parking, and complex maneuvers such as overtaking and lane merging. 

This initiative positions the project and IT at the forefront of the self-driving industry, assisting participating companies in leading advancements in autonomous vehicle technology.
