This edition (issue 114) highlights the successful deployment of ISTSat-1. On July 9, 2024, the Ariane 6 rocket launched from French Guiana, carrying the Portuguese nanosatellite to the International Space Station. The launch was broadcast live at TagusPark Oeiras, marking a significant milestone in Europe’s journey to regain autonomous access to space.
We also celebrate four major achievements by our researchers:
1. A team of doctoral students, led by Nuno Borges de Carvalho, won the "Outstanding Student Design Demonstrator Award" at the 2024 Wireless Power Transfer Conference and Exhibition.
2. Our IT team received the prestigious 2024 IEEE Microwave Prize from the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society (MTT-S).
3. On June 29, the Técnico Innovation Center hosted DEEC’s ELECTRODAY, showcasing cutting-edge projects by final-year Electrical and Computer Engineering students.
4. Researchers Sandra Correia, Paulo André, and doctoral student Gonçalo Figueiredo are contributing to a groundbreaking project led by Professor Rute Ferreira at the University of Aveiro. This innovative initiative aims to create a window that generates energy and transmits data via Wi-Fi.
Lastly, we introduced the C-Network project, a new hub for cybersecurity expertise, fostering research, development, and innovation in the field.
