The IEEE MTT-S Outstanding Young Professional (YP) Lecturer Program is an initiative by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society to recognize and promote emerging young professionals who have demonstrated excellence in their field. Selected lecturers are invited to share their expertise and inspire students, early-career engineers, and professionals through technical talks delivered worldwide.

This is not a competitive award, but rather an honorary distinction and outreach role within the society. The goal is to foster professional development and knowledge dissemination within the global microwave engineering community.

For Ricardo Figueiredo, “It is a true honor to have been selected as an IEEE MTT-S Outstanding YP Lecturer. Being given this platform to share my research and experiences with young professionals, students, and fellow engineers around the world is both humbling and deeply rewarding.”And, he adds, “This distinction reinforces the value of my work in RF instrumentation and nonlinear characterization and encourages me to continue contributing to the field not only through research but also through outreach and mentoring. I’m particularly excited about the opportunity to inspire others to pursue careers in RF and microwave engineering and to highlight the importance of accurate measurement in driving innovation.”

Ricardo Figueiredo is a researcher at Instituto de Telecomumicações, Aveiro, in the scope of project NewSpace. His research focuses on the nonlinear characterization of microwave systems. He is an affiliate of the Microwave Measurements Committee of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology and the Early Career Representative for Electromagnetic Metrology, Electromagnetic Measurements and Standards of the International Union of Radio Science.
