Orangel Azuaje Contreras presented our joint work with Peter Steenkiste, #CMU, "Uplink End-to-End Latency Characterization over a 5G NSA Network" at the ACM ICPE conference in Toronto, Canada. This paper proposes a methodology to measure the uplink end to end latency for various IoT-like traffic types. We characterise the latency using a 2 month dataset, and we explain the 5G mechanism behind the sawtooth pattern in the 5G access latency, which does not depend on the NSA or SA network, and propose how it can be limited.
