Professor Carlos Salema has been President of the Instituto de Telecomunicações, Emeritus Professor, member and President of the Academia das Artes de Lisboa, and one of the leading figures in electrical engineering and telecommunications in Portugal, among many other achievements better described by his colleagues and friends.

As a co-founder of the Instituto de Telecomunicações, he contributed decisively to shaping one of Portugal’s most respected research institutions.
