The PreEpiSeizures project team participated in a lecture on ‘invisibles’ for health assessment. As part of the lecture, the team produced a demonstration of the projects, showing how it is possible to obtain data of clinical interest through devices permanently applied to the body, namely the Electrocardiogram (ECG).

Bringing together a multidisciplinary team from IT and collaboration with two Lisbon hospitals, the goal of this project is to design a versatile acquisition system that can record multimodal biosignal data (using wearable devices), and be integrated with Machine Learning algorithms, which will eventually help patients with automated seizure detection.

The ISTSat-1 team conducted an experiment with the functional model of the satellite, complemented by a lecture to an audience consisting mainly of students from schools in Oeiras, presented by the team leader Rui Rocha. Students had the opportunity to contact directly with the researchers of this project and thus learn about the research carried out in the special area on this satellite in particular.

ISTSat-1 is a 1U CubeSat and will be the first Portuguese CubeSat scheduled to be launched soon into space. It's being developed by the IST Nanosat team which is made up of students and teachers from IT, University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior Técnico, and based on Taguspark campus.

According to Hugo Silva, from PreEpiSeizures project, these initiatives "are an opportunity for us to show how research work can contribute to improving people's lives, as well as to encourage young people towards science and technology."
