Nuno Borges Carvalho was elected to coordinate IEEE's technical activities as a member of the “TAB Committee on Technical Community Outreach Engagement and Society Membership (TCOES).”

This committee is responsible for coordinating topics related to technical activity members, TA audience topics, participants, and potential members, and is a forum for technical engagement issues, as well as analysis and support for the Society and other benefit issues of memberships.

In addition to this position, he was also elected as representative of MTT-S on the Future Directions Committee of the IEEE, a committee that debates the themes of upcoming emerging technologies.

Nuno Borges Carvalho received the Diploma and Doctoral degrees in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1995 and 2000, respectively. He is currently a Full Professor and a Senior Research Scientist at Instituto de Telecomunicações, University of Aveiro, and an IEEE Fellow. He is also the vice-chair of the URSI Commission A (Metrology Group) and a Distinguished Microwave Lecturer for the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society.
