Summary: A research position for one Post-Doctoral Research Grant (“Bolsa de Pós-Doutoramento“) is opened at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the Project “ Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking in Optics”, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. The work for this position is in the area of nanophotonics and quantum optics.
Scientific Area: Wireless Communications
Group: Antennas and Propagation – Lx
Admission Requirements: PhD degree in Physics, or Electrical Engineering, or in a related area, and desirably with knowledge in the area of nanophotonics and quantum optics.
Work Objectives: The selected candidate will investigate if/how thermal or quantum fluctuations can trigger the spontaneous symmetry breaking effect in atomic systems.
Applicable legislation: A fellowship will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT, “Regulation of Instituto de Telecomunicações’ fellowships” and ” Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação”, according to Law no. 40/2004, dated August 18 (Status of Scientific Research Fellow), in its actual redaction, and also by Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P. Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at Lisbon, under the supervision of doctor Mário Silveirinha
Duration: 6 months with the possibility of renewal. Start date: 16-03-2020 (or soon thereafter).
Monthly salary: 1.600.00€ (net), according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Curriculum vitae/Academic evaluation  (65%)
Suitability of the candidates’ profile to the project based on the relevant work experience in the tasks described in the work plan  (35%)
