Project: The metal oxide organic diode as a generic microelectronic device for light emitting diodes and non-volatile memories (Bistable)

Acronym: Bistable
Main Objective:
Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) can only be commercialized when the operational lifetime can be guaranteed. Early failure however is a random process. Consequently OLED reliability has to be tested for each batch separately. Although the reliability can be obtained from accelerated lifetime tests, it is far from ideal. A characterization method is needed that predicts early failure or the absence directly after fabrication. The objective of the this project is to use both negative differential resistance and noise measurements to arrive at a diagnostic criterion at time zero. The project is in collaboration with Philips in Eindhoven, NL
