Creating and sharing knowledge for telecommunications

Project: Towards Mobile Broadband Multimedia Communications

Acronym: COST 273
Main Objective:
The main objective is to increase the knowledge on the radio aspects of mobile broadband multimedia networks, by exploring and developing new methods, models, techniques, strategies and tools towards the implementation of 4th generation mobile communication systems. It considers frequencies ranging from the upper UHF up to millimetre waves, and data rates higher than 2 Mb/s (probably up to 155 Mb/s). As a secondary objective, it is intended that it continues to play a supporting role similar to the one played by the previous Actions in the mobile communications area. That is, besides giving inputs to the development of 4th generation systems, it is also expected that it will contribute to the deployment of systems that are very close to completion of their standardisation phase, like UMTS and HIPERLAN 2.
