Project: Organic/Inorganic hybrids for Integrated Optics

Acronym: OreO
Main Objective:
a) To investigate sol-gel derived OIH, such as di-ureasils, di-urethanesils, di- and mono-amidasils, and aminosils combined with photopolymerizable MAPTMS host as material substrate for production of IO architectures
b) To investigate the influence in the OIH PL features of chemical factors such as, organic and inorganic precursors, number and type of linkages and synthesis method
c) To investigate the chemical-physical nature of the RT OIH PL features
d) To compare by waveguide numerical simulation methods the relevant properties for optical, electrical or thermal actuation (nonlinear refractive index, thermo-optic and electro-optic coefficients) of the OIH with those typical of subtract materials used nowadays, silica, silicon, lithium niobate, polymers, glass or III-IV semiconductors
e) Fabrication of planar waveguides with the proposed OIH
f) To implement enabling solutions for future high debit optical networks, such as narrow band optical filter and low finesse optical cavities.
