Creating and sharing knowledge for telecommunications

Project: WAvelength division multiplexing LinK DesignER

Acronym: WALKER
Main Objective:
The main objective of the WALKER project is to develop a software-based demonstrator that assists in the design of very high bit rate wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) links that employ optical amplification and dispersion management. Linear and nonlinear, intra- and inter-channel limitations imposed by transmission along the optical fibre are taken into by the demonstrator and a systemic approach to the design of WDM links is pursued. The software will be developed in MATLAB and the demonstrator will use a user-friendly window design to communicate with the user.
