Abstract
A previously developed portable turbidity sensor based in plastic optical fiber (POF) was experimentally assessed in order to evaluate its viability to be applied in sediments monitoring of burnt areas.
The performance of the turbidity meter system was evaluated with the aim of substitute the classical, evaporation-based (thus time- and energy-consuming) method of determining sediment concentration of runoff samples.
Two distinct groups were observed for signal output and this was correlated to the samples main granulometric class and collection area.
