Abstract
The pyramidal absorbers are very costly affair in
the design of the Anechoich chamber (AC). Also, as they are
3-D structure and fragile, the possibility of breaking it while
doing experiments is very much. In this paper the authors have
proposed to use the broken absorbers and calculate the difference
in the reflection (S11) of the absorber for normal and oblique
incidence for height of L/2, 3L/4 compared to the full height
(L). It is observed that the maximum error in S11 for the 3L/4
and L is - 5 dB for oblique incident till 40°. This analysis tells
that the even if the absorber is broken by L/4, the measurements
could be done with some uncertainty. The reflected fields in the
quiet zone (QZ) which is 600 mm in front of the absorbers of
different L is simulated for the front wall. From the analysis it is
observed that the electric field reflected in the QZ is same for L
and 3L/4 absorber array. However, for the L/2 array absorber,
the reflected fields are 31 dB (V/m) more than the previous Ls.
The simulations for the side walls with 3L/4 array absorber is
also done.
