Abstract
In this paper we study the Cherenkov emission of moving charges in the vicinity of a nanowire metamaterial. We demonstrate that it is possible to boost the Cherenkov emission in such media by several orders of magnitude as compared to other more conventional structures, and produce Cherenkov radiation below the Cherenkov velocity limit in the host material.
