Abstract
As teachers, the way we prepare and explore the different tasks in order to approach the various mathematical topics, has a direct relationship with the knowledge we have about each one of these topics and the ways how they inter-relate (or may inter-relate). It is therefore of paramount importance that teachers (practice or trainees) hold a solid and rich knowledge. This knowledge is here seen from the perspective of Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching (MKT).
In this paper we will discuss/reflect upon the MKT revealed by future early year’s teachers, on the topic of Data Analysis , and this is one area which takes in the current Mathematics Program for Basic Education (first 9 years of schooling), an important relevance. We will focus on some mathematically critical situations identified in trainee teachers knowledge on Data Analysis, and on the discussion and reflection, upon those identified situations to contribute to allow those future teachers to achieve a higher and deeper level of knowledge, therefore contributing thus to improve their training.
