Abstract
In this work we describe a Finite-Difference-Frequency-Domain implementation of the homogenization ap-proach proposed in [M. G. Silveirinha, Phys. Rev. B 75, 115104 (2007)]. In order to validate and illustrate the application of the finite difference method, we have extracted the effective parameters of a composite material formed by high-index dielectric cylinders and compared the obtained results with those yielded by the classical Clausius-Mossotti formula.
