Abstract
Location based systems are proliferating due to smartphones, tablets and wearable computers. However, the battery life is a huge concern in these devices and the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) acquisition and decoding process places a huge toll on it. Therefore it is important to reduce the complexity of the digital components of such blocks as well as the positioning algorithms. With that in mind, this paper aims to provide and demonstrate that a simple approach can be taken in order to improve the performance of such algorithms. To do so, predicted measurements are computed using the Doppler effect in order to fill in data gaps.
