Abstract
A low profile unidirectional UWB antenna for WBAN (Wireless Body Area Networks) Impulse Radio (IR) applications is proposed with functional band from 7 GHz to 10.7 GHz. Simulated reflection coefficient in free space and when 0 mm, 3 mm, or 7 mm above a human body model show that the body influence is minimal. Time domain study of pulse fidelity, of crucial importance for IR-UWB, shows average fidelity of 98% in free space and when 3 mm or 0 mm above the body.
