Abstract
This paper proposes the use of two different types of printed monopoles to form the antenna system to be used in small terminals of a mobile communications system. Printed monopoles exhibit the well-known advantageous features of printed structures such as low profile, light weight, low cost, planar geometry but also conformable with non-planar structures and ease of fabrication. Moreover, they can present many different configurations which result in different radiation characteristics. The number of monopoles that can be integrated into a specific area depends on the accepted level of mutual coupling.
