Abstract
The everlasting challenge in wireless communications has been how to provide an ever-increasing throughput, reliably, and uniformly in a designated area. In this regard, the focus of this study is the mathematical modeling of the transmission channel for line-of-sight (LOS) communications using one of the technologies that try to tackle this problem, the radio stripes (RSs). We present a basic channel model for the user equipment (UE) serviced by an infinite RS array that focuses only on free-path attenuation. We later analyze the workings of the proposed model in both infinite and finite arrays in order to understand its limitations, showing that while some shortcomings impact the model as an exact representation of the channel, it still provides a good limit for the channel capacity in the targeted communication scenarios.
