Abstract
This short paper comments on a recent article published in Electrical Engineering (Springer Nature), where a vertical needle-shaped conductor is analyzed, first alone and then added to a horizontal star grounding electrode. The authors claimed that the addition of the needle reduces the grounding impedance of the system; we tend to believe that the conclusion may be correct, unfortunately the published results may not be reliable, as the mathematical/physical description of the electromagnetic field presented is, in our opinion, incomplete, mainly because the time-varying magnetic field within the ground has been ignored.
