Abstract
This paper gives a summarized overview of spread spectrum techniques that are used nowadays in a large number of applications.
A summarized analysis, in time and frequency domains, for direct sequence, frequency hopping and time hopping spread spectrum techniques of each technique is underlined.
Results of laboratory tests of a ZigBee network will be presented and experimental results compared with theoretical expectations.
In a second part of this paper it will be presented an application of a wireless sensing and actuating system developed by the authors to implement a wireless distributed measurement system for water quality assessment.
