I joined IT in Aveiro, as a graduate student in 2005, where I have developed novel instrumentation devices for radioastronomy. I started the PhD in 2009, in Electrical Engineering where I have developed a new state of the art digital backend system of high throughput using low range components, applicable to several space sciences areas. My work in IT also consisted in applying for several calls to project funding in space sciences. I was one of the proponents of a patent for habitable capsules for harsh conditions like Mars planet. In parallel, I was a lecturer in University of Aveiro in courses of computer architecture, programming and electrical engineering. I have also been a co-supervisor of Master's dissertations in the University of Aveiro. I completed my PhD program in 2015, and left IT to start working as an Electronics and Embedded Engineer at Wiseware Lda, in Portugal. My position focused on the development of embedded systems for location and tracking, using several microprocessor providers, as well as developing video processing tools, also for location and tracking. I was the EMC responsible for precertification of some electronics devices produced by the company. The main focus in Wiseware was the use of several wireless communication technologies while consuming the lowest power. This latter one is now in a patent registering process. Recently, I returned to IT as a Auxiliar Researcher, in the Engage SKA project, where I am responsible for the establishment of a capacitation and sustainability plan for a Green e-Science Infrastructure fostering Portugal participation in the ESFRI SKA project along the Big Data and Green Power axis, that will act as a driver for smart and sustainable growth along some of the less developed regions of Portugal taking radioastronomy as an Innovation Open Living Lab. SKA is a global, unparalleled project not only because of its ambitious scientific goals, its overwhelming infrastructure (spreading through 3 continents, capable of outputting more data than the entire World Internet traffic) but because it will be built through phases, each giving the opportunity for transformational science with cutting-edge technology.
