I joined IT - Coimbra in 2008 when I started my Master thesis under the supervision of both Prof. Eduardo Saraiva and Prof. Marina Perdigão, followed by a research scholarship in their FCT project in the field of electronic ballasts and dimming technologies. In the following years, with a doctorate title in mind, I participated in another IT research project, Fault Diagnosis in High Power Drives Based on Multilevel Converters, under the guidance of Prof. André Mendes and Prof. Sérgio Cruz, both from the Power Systems Group at IT Coimbra. With hard work I happily concluded my PhD thesis in 2017. Later that year, I was once again a fellow researcher on another IT project on automatic tuning for inductive charging systems under misalignment conditions for urban electric transportation. All these years of collaboration with IT, and in particular with the Power Systems Group, have been very important to my academic and professional career. I had the opportunity to learn and share knowledge with many people I came across, to develop critical reasoning and improve my abilities to solve or tackle many scientific and technical challenges. Currently, I am working in research and development at WEG in northern Portugal, namely in the area of electromagnetic design of electric machines and new technologies. WEG is regarded as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of electric motors and automation technologies. Here, I have had the opportunity to continue the research path begun at IT and to foster the close relationship between the company and the universities/research institutes, which is always a winning partnership.
